The signs above your head at the airport. These are the real international symbols, so you will see exactly these — and twelve of them you can read with no English at all.

project sheet 1 and point at a sign — everyone types what it means in the chat. Five of them (departures, arrivals, baggage, passport control, customs) only make sense once you say the word, so teach those; the other twelve the class can read cold, which is the point worth making out loud.

One important sign has no picture. In the United States the way out is marked with the word EXIT in bright letters, usually red or green, above the door. Look for the word, not a symbol.
