For teachers and volunteers

Translanguaging Whiteboard

A full-screen board for your lesson. Write an English word, then show it in your class's languages right beside it. English stays the spine, the translation is the helper.

Back to Teachers

  1. Write a word

The board opens ready to type. Click anywhere and write, then press Enter for the next line.

  2. Tap the globe

Every word you write carries a small green globe. Tap it, or right-click the word, to see it in your class's languages.

  3. Put it on the board

Click a language and the translation is written under the English word, smaller and quieter, so English stays the one being taught.

While you teach

  • Teaching on Zoom: share the browser window, not the whole screen, so your Zoom controls stay private.
  • The toolbar folds into a small green dot if it is in the way. Click the dot to bring it back.
  • The board comes in white, green, or black. Tap the Board button while the board is up to change it.
  • Save writes the whole board to a picture you can send to your class after the lesson.
  • The board clears when you close it, so save anything you want to keep before you leave.
